David Knowlton

Welcome to the peaceful world of David Knowlton Artist. The son of commercial artists in Santa Barbara, California, David showed signe of artistic talent at an early age. With guidance from his parents and their professional artist freinds, young David quickly learned all the painting media, steelin primarily into oils.

West Point and an Army career interrupted his fequent work at the easel, but in 1964 he sold his first oil painting and was soon involved in group shows. An allergy to the turpentine in oils led him to try acrylics in 1971 and, fve years later, he was out of the Army and painting full time.

His unique, very realistic style is widely known by thousands of collectors of his original acrylic paintings and limited reproductions (both lighographs and giclees). His theme is tranquility and his subjects range from waterscapes and lighthouses to landscapes, and sometimes even still-life and wildlife. Every image he creates on canvas or hardboard shows not only his superb technical skill but also his perception of color and an artful flair in his use of three-dimensional depth. With almost sixty years of experience, David has truly added a new dimension to the filed of realistic art.

David and his wife Marilyn now reside in Bluffton, South Carolina, and besides displaying here at Pluff Mudd Art, he still displays at regional arts and crafts shows throughout the eastern United States.
