Original Oil Paintings
Cheryl Coe Eppolito's first oil painting was done in 1969 when she was a senior in high school, in Buffalo, New York. This would be her first and last painting for many years. After a receiving a B.S. in Education from The State University College of New York at Buffalo, she enjoyed a teaching career in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. After retiring, Cheryl and her husband moved to Hilton Head Island . She now resides in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Cheryl found Hilton Head Island and Beaufort an inspiration for her artistic pursuits, as she was surrounded by artists and art instruction that nourished her artistic passion. After enrolling in a class with local artists , she rediscovered the joy of painting. Cheryl’s muse is the coastal environment. She hopes to convey a sense of peace and tranquility from her work , painting on linen canvas, layering oil paints to achieve a mood setting luminosity.
Although she divides most of her time as a painter between seascapes and landscape painting, Cheryl also enjoys figurative painting. Cheryl's art education has included studying with artists Christopher Groves, Donald Demers , and Roger Dale Brown. She has been inspired by the works of N.C Wyeth, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent. Her paintings have earned her many awards and are shown in many private collections through the U.S, Europe and Canada.
Cheryl is represented by the Pluff Mudd Gallery in Bluffton, S.C. She is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and a member of the American Society of Marine Artists..
