Abstract Acrylics
Raised in a suburb of New York City, Vickie was influenced at an early age by her father, an executive artist of an advertising firm on Madison Avenue. After studying at Parsons School of Design, Vickie began her career in the interior design department of B.Altman and Co. in Manhattan. She relocated to San Francisco where she was a sales consultant for an office furniture company until she married and started a family. Upon returning to the east coast and settling in Richmond, Va., Vickie joined O.H. Jones Interiors where she enjoyed a very successful twelve years in interior design.
Since 1998 Vickie has pursued her talent for creative art and has attended workshops in watercolor, pastel, oil, mixed media and collage. She has studied under such notable artists as Katherine Chang Liu, Gerald Brommer, Pat San Soucie, Carrie Burns Brown, Pat Dews, Eydi Lampasona, Virginia Cobb, Glenn Bradshaw and many others. Vickie's art work has evolved over the years and she continues to experiment with acrylics, gel mediums, gesso and papers creating unique compositions of color and texture.
Since Vickie and her husband retired to Hilton Head Island in 1999, she has become very active in the art community. Vickie is a member of the Art League of Hilton Head, the Society of Bluffton Artists, and she is a signature member of the South Carolina Watermedia Society.
Vickie has been accepted into many juried shows and won numerous awards, including Best of Show. Vickie's paintings can be seen at Pluff Mudd Art Gallery in Bluffton, SC, the Art League of Hilton Head Gallery and Shuptrine’s Gallery, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Commissions welcomed.
